Edmonds College baseball is preparing for the 2025 regular season after a challenging pre-season with a 6-7 win/loss record.
Coach Brooks Roy, entering year three with the Tritons, believes that their achievements of past seasons are a good stepping stone and that this season the Tritons are positioned to continue competing for another NWAC championship.
It appears that an established roster and growth took place during preseason. Coach Roy states they did not fare well but learned a lot.
“We had a challenging preseason schedule on purpose, something to challenge our abilities and figure out where we need to improve going forward,” Roy said. “Although we did not finish above .500, the experiences were valuable, and I think we’ve put ourselves in a good position for the upcoming regular season.”
The Tritons faced many teams in preseason, including several home and away games against Pierce College. Although outcomes in terms of wins and losses were mixed, the team has learned a lot about their weaknesses and strengths, according to Roy.
“We play preseason games against tough teams to see where we are,” he said. “We won some, we lost some, but we’ve learned a lot about our weaknesses and strengths. Preseason games early on show our weaknesses and strengths. It’s a very vital part of our preparation to prepare us for the toughness of the regular season.”
As the regular season begins, the squad is focusing on accessing all the potential of the preseason and taking it into the regular season. “We learned what we had to adjust and we’re doing it,” Roy said. “Just the work ethic and dedication these guys show make me feel that we will be in contention, doing what we have to do to reach our ultimate goal, an NWAC championship.”
All in all, the Edmonds College Tritons have everything they need to have a great regular season, and any roadblocks experienced in the preseason have only strengthened the team’s resilience for what is sure to be a productive season moving forward.
