In a show of unity, hundreds of Palestine supporters gathered in University of Washington’s Red Square on Thursday afternoon. While those in attendance cheered on the speaker, clapped along with drums, and carried flags and signs in support of the “day of resistance protest for Palestine,” many Jewish students on campus voiced their concerns.
The event was organized by “Super UW,” a student-led group that aims to stand in solidarity with the liberation movement in Palestine. Earlier in the week flyers promoting the gathering created quite a buzz on Facebook. The flyer showcased captivating illustrations of individuals holding up signs and flags that read “Free Palestine” as well as some making peace signs with their hands. Additionally, there was an image of a paraglider on the flyer symbolizing the hopes associated with the cause.
