Triton Alert! MLT Closed
If you are not living under a rock, you have noticed that Edmonds Community College’s Mountlake Terrace building is closed until further notice. There are several notices taped on its many entrances, alerting students that the building is closed. The reason behind the closure is a broken sewage pipe.
Many students celebrated their classes being cancelled, giving them time to rejoice in the last couple of days of sun for the PNW. Several other classes have been moved altogether. Students are advised to visit the Wellness Center to find out if their classes have been moved and where to find them if they were.
When asked for an official statement from the college, facilties said it was too early to go into detail.
It comes as no coincidence that construction is happening next door on the new SET building. This leads one to think that the cause of the broken sewage pipe could be due to the construction, although there is no telling until the school officiates an official comment. The water has been shut-off in the building before, Proffesor Deann Leoni states.
No matter what the cause is, the college has handled the situation smoothly. All classes were evacuated in a matter of an hour, and repairs began. Although the building will reopen in no later than a couple of weeks, it begs the question to be answered: with all the recent malfunctions with several buildings, why is the school focused on repairing when they could focus on rebuilding?
